VIOLIN INSTRUCTOR Peter Hughes invites you  to study violin or viola at one of several well known music programs in Central Massachusetts or at his home studio in Worcester, MA.

Peter Hughes'  teaching approach has grown out of a variety of experiences beginning with youthful studies with Mr. Grant Rudnicki and Sarah Scriven, teachers who combined sound technical training with boundless encouragement for their students, while sharing their great enthusiasm for the music of the classical tradition. Advanced studies with Eric Rosenblith and Janet Packer further crystalized in Peter's life the elements of violin pedagogy and violin performance. Peter encountered Suzuki string pedagogy at a teachers' training seminar at New York's School for Strings in 2006, which strengthened his resolve to believe in each student's boundless potential and unique abilities.

KREISLER, ETC.!  (Peter Hughes, sans third person): "I am continuing to work on the life long goal of mastering the Bach Sonatas and Partitas for unaccomapanied violin. Additionally, I'm listening to historical recordings of 20th century masters of the violin and making a hobby of studying the works of legendary violinist and composer, Fritz Kreisler. Encountering at age five a recording on my parents' LP turntable that featured "Kreisler Favorites" and Paganini Caprices performed by Zino Francescatti was a life changing event for  young unsuspecting Hughes---I'll teach everything I know about violin playing, to anybody--children, adults, beginners, advanced players--the wave that Francescatti and Kreisler set in motion in my life cannot be  crushed!" 6/25/08
